Product detailed description
Langstroth - Jumbo (Dadant) - 286 mm (11 1/4″)
Beehive box for Langstroth Jumbo frames, designed to hold 10 frames with a frame height of 286 mm. Made from polyurethane, the box offers outstanding thermal insulation—its 3.5 cm walls are equivalent to 14 cm of wood in insulating properties.
The hive box is crafted as a single monolithic piece, ensuring no use of fasteners. This seamless design provides excellent durability and strength, even with the 3.5 cm wall thickness.
Frame Size: Langstroth - Jumbo - 286 mm height.
Frame Divider Compatibility:
- 1 divider: Splits the box into 2 compartments (5 + 5 frames).
Each hive box features its own ventilation opening with a trapezoidal closure for easy airflow management.
Dimensions and Weight:
- Internal dimensions: 385 mm x 464 mm
- External dimensions: Height – 28.4 cm, Width – 46.4 cm, Depth – 54.2 cm
- Weight: 1.7 kg
Key Advantages of the Flugo Hive Box:
- Lightweight and Easy Handling: The hive box weighs only 2.1 kg.
- Superior Thermal Insulation: Reduces winter food consumption and supports spring colony growth.
- Seamless Construction: Monolithic design minimizes damage risks and simplifies cleaning.
- Weather and Pest Resistance: Polyurethane resists rodents, insects, and extreme weather conditions.
- Ease of Maintenance: Smooth surfaces facilitate cleaning and reduce disease risks.
- Langstroth Compatibility: Fully compatible with standard 10-frame Langstroth hives. Verify dimensions before purchasing.
Painting Instructions:
Polyurethane is not UV-resistant. Apply a protective coating after 1–2 years of outdoor use. Lightly sand the surface before painting to ensure adhesion. A proper coating can protect the hive for up to 10 years without repainting.
Potential Disadvantages:
Unpainted hive boxes may have a shorter lifespan and are prone to peeling over time. Minor air bubbles or manufacturing imperfections do not affect functionality and are not considered defects.
