Product detailed description
Čechoslovák Polyurethane Hive for 13 Frames – Frame Size 37x30 cm
The Čechoslovák hive is designed for 13 frames with dimensions of 37x30 cm and made from high-quality polyurethane, ensuring excellent thermal insulation and resistance to weather conditions. The 3.9 cm wall thickness offers insulation properties equivalent to 15 cm of wood.
Hive Composition and Features
Hive Lid:
- Contains four ventilation holes with cork stoppers.
- Internal lid height: 6.7 cm, providing sufficient space for feeding bees during winter.
- Dimensions and weight: 12.1 x 46.4 x 54.2 cm; weight: 1.3 kg.
Hive Body:
- The body is made from monolithic polyurethane without joints, ensuring higher strength.
- Allows the placement of dividers:
- 1 divider: Splits the body into 2 sections (6 + 6 frames).
- 2 dividers: Splits the body into 3 sections (3 + 6 + 3 frames).
- 3 dividers: Splits the body into 4 sections (3 + 3 + 3 + 3 frames).
- For use with dividers, a special bottom board is required, which is under development and will be available soon.
- Dimensions and weight: 30 x 46.4 x 54.2 cm; weight: 2.3 kg.

Ventilation Recommendations
- Close the bottom ventilation with the plastic tray from February 1 to March 30 to support late winter colony growth.
- Gradually remove the tray in April, depending on weather conditions.
- Keep the bottom ventilation fully open during the rest of the year, even in severe frost.
- During hot summer days, above 30°C, use ventilated closures on the hive cover and place a vapor-permeable sheet or propolis mesh for better air circulation.
Painting Instructions
Polyurethane is not UV-resistant. Apply a protective coating after 1–2 years of sun exposure. Lightly sand the surface before painting for better adhesion. A properly applied coating lasts up to 10 years.
Potential Disadvantages
Unpainted hives may peel over time and have a shorter lifespan. Minor imperfections or bubbles do not affect the hive's functionality and are not considered defects.
