Product detailed description
Polyurethane Beehive 39x24 Adamcova Míra for 13 Frames
The 39x24 Adamcova Míra beehive is designed for 13 frames and is made from high-quality polyurethane, providing excellent thermal insulation and resistance to weather conditions. A 3 cm wall offers insulation equivalent to 12 cm of wood.
Beehive Components and Features
Hive Cover
- Includes four ventilation openings with cork closures.
- Internal height: 6.7 cm, providing enough space for winter feeding.
- Dimensions and weight: 11 x 46.4 x 54.2 cm; weight: 1.3 kg.
Hive Box
- Made from seamless, monolithic polyurethane, ensuring superior strength.
- Allows the placement of dividers:
- 1 divider: splits the hive box into 2 sections (6 + 6 frames).
- 2 dividers: splits the hive box into 3 sections (3 + 6 + 3 frames).
- 3 dividers: splits the hive box into 4 sections (3 + 3 + 3 + 3 frames).
A special bottom board is required for using this hive box with dividers. It is currently under development and will be available soon.
- Dimensions and weight: 30 x 46.4 x 54.2 cm; weight: 2.3 kg.
Varroa Bottom Board
- Mesh bottom made of stainless steel or perforated aluminum with 3.15 mm holes and a removable plastic tray for Varroa mite monitoring.
- Dimensions and weight: 12 x 46.4 x 57 cm; weight: 1.3 kg.
Key Benefits of the 39x24 Adamcova Míra Beehive
- Lightweight and portable: The hive box weighs only 1.8 kg, making transportation and handling easy.
- Faster spring development: Excellent insulation supports early colony expansion.
- Reduced winter food consumption: Bees consume up to 50% less winter stores, saving on feeding costs.
- Outstanding thermal insulation: 3 cm polyurethane walls offer insulation equivalent to 12 cm of wood, ensuring optimal conditions year-round.
- Seamless construction: Molded as a single piece, improving the hive's stability.
- Compatibility: Fully compatible with standard wooden Adamcova Míra 39x24 hives for 13 frames – check dimensions before purchasing.
- Easy maintenance: Smooth hive box surfaces allow for quick cleaning and help prevent disease spread.
- Optimal year-round conditions:
- In summer, maintains stable temperatures for honey production.
- In winter, reduces bee mortality, which can increase honey production by up to 30%.
- Pest resistance: Polyurethane is resistant to rodents and insects, increasing hive longevity.
- Durability: The hive is resistant to rain, snow, wind, and hail.
- Easy transport: Lightweight construction allows for moving more hives, making expansion easier.
- Suitable for all climates: The 39x24 Adamcova Míra beehive performs well in any climate, regardless of conditions.
Usage Recommendations
-
Dividing the hive into nucs: If you need to split the hive into 2 nucs, fully close the front entrance, insert a divider, and open the rear trapezoidal closures to give each nuc its own entrance.
-
Ventilation:
- From February 1st to March 30th, fully close the bottom ventilation using the plastic tray to promote colony development in late winter and early spring.
- For the rest of the year, ventilation should be managed from the bottom, which should remain fully open, even in freezing temperatures.
-
Summer use:
- When temperatures exceed 30°C (86°F), we recommend using ventilation closures in the lid instead of standard ones.
- You can also place a breathable film or a propolis collection grid on top of the frames and fully open the ventilation openings for better air circulation.
-
Varroa mite monitoring:
- If you need to take wax samples or check for Varroa mites, keep the plastic tray slightly open (at least 5 cm) to maintain necessary airflow.
Painting Instructions
Polyurethane is not UV-resistant, so we recommend applying a protective coating after 1–2 years of sun exposure.
- Lightly sand the surface before painting to improve adhesion.
- Use UV-stable paint (synthetic, water-based, or two-component).
- A properly applied coating lasts up to 10 years without repainting.
Potential Disadvantages
- Unpainted hives may have a shorter lifespan and may start peeling over time.
- Small air bubbles or minor manufacturing imperfections do not affect hive functionality and are not considered defects.
